Job Description
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Certified Nurse's Assistant/Clinic Assistant will support the health care provider in the delivery of patient care with basic nursing functions. The Certified Nurse's Assistant/Clinic Assistant reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager/Lead Registered Nurse/Lead Medical Assistant/and or the Director of Clinics & Provider.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform pre-visit screenings following protocols approved by OCHC and the ordering provider.
- Obtain and record patient history using appropriate tools and protocols within the EMR.
- Assist in the establishment, organization, and maintenance of patient medical records.
- Provide procedural and administrative support to the Podiatrist.
- Operate autoclave and other equipment required to clean and sanitize equipment or supplies
- Apply computer and other electronic equipment techniques to support office operations.
- Obtain vital signs.
- Assist with procedures, and treatments as ordered by the provider and within legal boundaries.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and follows replenishment process for needed supplies.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies.
- Document patient communication and clinical treatments timely, accurately, and appropriately
- Identify community resources for health maintenance and disease prevention to meet individual patient needs.
- Recognize and respect cultural diversity.
- Employ professional telephone and interpersonal techniques, applying medical terminology appropriately in all settings.
- Adapt communication to an individual's understanding.
- Recognize and respond effectively to verbal, nonverbal, and written communications.
- Serve as the communication liaison and patient advocate between the patient and health care team.
- Participates in daily care team huddle to perform pre-visit planning to identify lab work or testing needed.
- Enforce HIPAA Regulations.
- Identify and respond to issues of confidentiality.
- Perform tasks within legal and ethical boundaries.
- Comply with established risk management and safety procedures.
- Perform and actively participate in quality control, quality improvement, and organizational strategic plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assignment may be changed at any time at the discretion of the Clinic Nurse Manager, Lead RN, Lead MA and or Director of Clinics & Provider Relations, Chief Medical Officer to meet the needs of the corporation.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology is mandatory. Must demonstrate the ability to handle and deal with multiple situations effectively. Must have excellent customer service skills and have empathy and compassion for all patients and staff. Demonstrate the ability to treat all patients and staff with dignity and respect. Must perform in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently, effectively and productively with Providers and staff. Demonstrate excellence in customer service. Ability to communicate with the provider, nurse manager, and lead nurse in a cooperative, respectful, and constructive manner is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS: Two years or more in a clinic, physician's office or hospital setting preferred. Experience and skill in taking vital signs. Organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail. Registered with the State of Wisconsin Registry for Nursing Assistants
