The Role

This Management position is responsible for managing a team of highly skilled personnel who test and certify all hardware and software in the Lumen network. The Access Team is responsible for certification and integration of Network and CPE equipment supporting xDSL, g.fast, g.hn, and Fiber to the Home (GPON/XGS-PON) Technologies for Mass Markets Services. This management position ensures resource and testing project allocation is prioritized to meet the needs of the business and overall program timelines. Regular reporting of testing status to senior leadership as well as collaboration with other internal teams within Lumen are necessary and required. Additionally, this position is responsible for CAPEX/OPEX budget planning as well as monthly KPI tracking/reporting to senior leadership.


The Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a variable skillset team of FTE, Contractor and Vendor testing resources.
  • Monitor workflow on projects, and address potential schedule slips utilizing all resources obtainable.
  • Plan resource loading and adjust schedules when deemed necessary through proactive communication to project or technology owners.
  • Maintain balanced relationships with neighboring groups
  • Coach and mentor employees on testing practices, knowledge transfer and deployment approaches.
  • Implement cycle-time improvement by identifying and executing automation opportunities.
  • Manages CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
  • Develops technical talent of team members to further their professional development.
  • Provides verbal and written communication to leadership on critical path testing projects.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years related experience
Experience managing technical resources in fast paced highly technical environment
Ability to balance ever changing work environment and priorities and to keep employees focused on assigned testing projects important to revenue generation.
Preferred
2+ years previous manager level leadership experience preferred or proven team leadership
Existing experience with Network Architecture
Existing experience with Access Technologies: xDSL, GPON / XGS-PON and Ethernet / MEF compliant Business Services
