Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY The Accounting Clerk performs various clerical and routine accounting tasks. Duties include posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to financial reporting system output; processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports and budgets. Responds to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains financial records by preparing and recording financial transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Perform basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to email, processing mail, filing, etc. • Prepare invoices for processing which involves data entry, sorting, alphabetizing, and verifying totals. • Reconcile various expenditure reports to source documents; distribute and file financial documents and reports. • Sort documents; code, log, review for accuracy; match supporting invoices to documents; and verify invoices for payment.
- Prepare routine entries and post financial transactions; reconcile entries and internal ledgers to financial reporting system reports. • Research processing issues, contact departments and vendors to resolve problems and expedite payments; respond to inquiries by telephone or in writing; refer complex problems for solution. • Assist in preparation of financial statements such as billings, budgets, and cost reports. • Assist in ordering, and maintenance, of equipment, supplies, and inventories.
- Assist with the processing of time sheets; verify account numbers; maintain records as needed. • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE MEASURES • Processes financial data in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. • Ensures all business transactions are reasonable, appropriate, and necessary.
- Provides suggestions and ideas on process and workflow improvements. • Demonstrates basic knowledge of general accounting principles and practices. QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma with 2 years of accounting experience. • Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles • Effective oral and written communication skills • Works well in a fast-paced environment.
