JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leading direct reports in the cultivation of truckload business through prospecting, qualifying and securing truckload opportunities. They will support the strategic positioning of our brokerage services to increase truckload market share and revenues, while concurrently working in conjunction with Local, Corporate and Inside Sales channels to foster customer relationships and increase profitability accordingly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote revenue growth and increase market share through business partnerships, collaboration and strategic planning.
- Ensure effective communications between the BDR-Truckload team, Account Executives and Inside Account Executives within each assigned market to identify, establish and nurture truckload accounts.
- Support team members in successful contract negotiations, RFP’s and projects for new and existing truckload accounts to maximize margin and revenue levels.
- Drive truckload account penetration through the management of sales leads, shipper and consignee prospecting and customer referrals.
- Monitor shipping activities and trends within the regional portfolios to identify key accounts that have the largest potential to impact growth.
- Demonstrate superior industry, product and sales skills knowledge.
- Manage supervisory responsibilities such as; hiring, training, performance appraisal, and employee development. Mentor, lead and develop Truckload Business Development Representatives.
- Identify and provide employees with necessary resources and training to meet objectives. Provide timely, relevant performance feedback and employee evaluations. Recognize and reward positive results and serve as a role model to team members.
- Provide solutions to management to improve the efficiency and performance of the Truckload Business Development team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to negotiate difficult situations.
- Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Three (3) years of experience in telephone sales or prospecting experience.
- Three (3) years of Truckload, 3PL or Brokerage experience.
- Demonstrated relationship building, problem-solving and collaborative planning techniques.
- Proficient in PC and mainframe applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Experience in the transportation industry with deep knowledge of truckload operations and logistics.
- Extensive business to business sales or consulting experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
