Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Mission Systems Subsystem Integration Engineer/Principal Mission Systems Subsystem Integration Engineer to join our diverse and talented team. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

**This position may be filled by either a Mission Systems Subsystem Integration Engineer level or a Principal Mission Systems Subsystem Integration Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.

This role will support the Mission Systems IPT.

The Mission Management team is seeking an analytically-minded engineer to integrate and further develop digital representations of relevant avionics subsystems with the Mission Management Subsystem. The candidate will work closely with the suppliers to understand functionality of the relevant subsystems and the implementation of the corresponding digital representation. The candidate will work with the Mission Management team to run integration, demonstrations and tests in a comprehensive simulation framework environment. The successful candidate will develop analytical tools to process laboratory data from large scale simulations that incorporate digital twin implementations of sensors, communications , and different configurations of the Mission Software Operational Flight Program . The candidate should be comfortable tackling challenging problems which lack clear definition. This role will support the Mission Systems IPT where consultation with Subject Matter Experts is required to be successful. Motivated candidates will have the opportunity to learn about diverse and cutting-edge sensor technology including EOIR, EW, Radar, Communications and Mission Computing. Interest or experience in the following areas is a plus: AFSIM simulation, EOIR subsystems, EW subsystems, RF/antenna subsystems, digital communications , data processing methods and capabilities.

Candidate will contribute to high-visible activities and have opportunities to periodically demonstrate integrated capabilities to sector leadership and high value customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Integration of supplier Digital representation of subsystems with Mission Management

  • Assist in the formulation of relevant test scenarios and implement those in AFSIM

  • Develop tools to help reduce and analyze bus traffic data recorded during simulations.

  • Conduct performance analysis that incorporate use of digital twin and high fidelity subsystem simulators, and mission software.

  • Direct customer and supplier interaction to include regular presentations and detailed analysis

Basic Qualifications:

For – Mission Systems Subsystem Integration Engineer (T02):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university for T02 level.

  • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

  • Experience with Modeling and simulations tools (AFSIM, MATLAB, STK, etc.)

  • Familiarity with lab-based testing and integration of software into representative hardware

  • Experience in Software Development lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:

For – Principal Mission Systems Subsystem Integration Engineer (T03):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience OR 0 years’ experience with PhD for T03 level.

  • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

  • Experience with Modeling and simulations tools (AFSIM, MATLAB, STK, etc.)

  • Familiarity with lab based testing and integration of software into representative hardware

  • Experience in Software Development lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills. Flexibility to evolving program environments.

  • Experience with data reduction from flight test/ lab integration activities

  • Experience working in a hybrid (Windows/Linux) development environment

  • Experience integrating and debugging software

  • Proficiency with computer/engineering modeling using Java, C++, Python or other object-oriented computer language.

  • Proven ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders.

  • Familiarity in Agile and Digital Engineering processes

  • Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
