Bayer Research and Development Services LLC’s Chesterfield, MO office, seeks a Senior Data Scientist. This is a hybrid office/work-from-home position that will be responsible for performing diverse optimization model and algorithm development related to operations research to help the Breeding Department make better plans and have more efficient strategies in expanding business. Duties include: (i) developing optimization models to provide better operational schedules and task assignments (these predictive models refer to heuristic, multi-stage, mixed integer, deterministic, stochastic, and dynamic programming); (ii) extracting data from internal API and cloud services using extensive experience in querying, cleaning, analysis and assurance using Big Query and Python; and (iii) partnering with field testing and nursery teams in Bayer Breeding to initiate innovation projects, identify business values and deliver key results with best practice of documentation maintenance and code review in data science.
This is a hybrid office/work-from-home position within the United States, but the employee must be able to work in the Chesterfield office (3) days per week.
Must have a PhD (or foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, System and Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a directly related field plus (3) years of experience in a related position.
Must also have (3) years of experience: (i) designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining business functions for nursery and field testing operations using a variety of programming methodologies and data science tools (Python, SQL, LP, NLP, GitHub); (ii) developing Cloud based solutions on AWS for data hydration and model analysis; (iii) solving high complexity models through CPLEX, LINDO, MATLAB, AMPL and Gurobi with Operations Research algorithms (column generation, branch and cut, Benders decomposition); (iv) utilizing advanced statistical methods (Bayesian methods, MCMC, Gaussian processes) and Machine Learning algorithms (linear regression, SVM, KNN, random forest) to deliver proper data analysis; and (v) simulating scenarios through Arena with queueing theory, analyzing vulnerabilities and uncertainties of stochastic multi-stage optimization problems.
Experience can be concurrent.
