Protein Scientist I

Bayer Research and Development Services LLC’s Chesterfield, MO, seeks a Protein Scientist I.

This is an on-site position that will be responsible for: (i) producing trait proteins using conventional chromatography and Unicorn software to generate intact functional proteins; (ii) characterizing proteins with classic biochemistry methods including enzyme activity assays for protein structure and function assessment; (iii) assessing protein toxicity and allergenicity to support the safety of the proteins for animal feed and human consumption; (iv) document experiments and data, prepare reports with GLP GRR compliance; and (v) programing, using languages such as Python, for digital transformation in the team.

Must have a PhD degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience in a related position.

Experience must include three (3) years of experience: (i) designing constructs based on structure activity relationship for protein purification; (ii) expressing recombinant proteins from bacterial cells or other expression systems; (iii) developing and optimizing protein purification procedures using various resin-based chromatography techniques; (iv) developing and validating enzyme assays; (v) performing protein characterization using a panel of analytical methods, such as SDS-PAGE, spectrometry, LC-MS, NMR; (vi) performing data documentation and preparation of reports; (vii) presenting data in conference and publications; and (viii) utilizing unicorn, ImageLab, GraphPad, Python.

Experience can be concurrent.
