PAYROLL MANAGER

Auburn Hills, MI


OBJECTIVE

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate a timely processing of union employee payroll for all US work locations while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee and assist in weekly union payroll process for multiple states and various unions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Review payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and make any necessary adjustments
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee payroll files
  • Update union pay scales as necessary
  • Ensure accuracy of union benefit contributions
  • Prepare various payroll and management reports, journal entries, workers compensation, and reconcile quarterly payroll taxes
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll taxes/940/941
  • Oversee accuracy of all garnishments and deductions
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
  • Certify payroll
  • Manage direct report(s)
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

CORE COMPETENCIES


Required:

  • Union payroll experience required
  • 5+ years as a union payroll specialist
  • Good working knowledge of CBA rules, regulations, and prevailing wages
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task and work in high pressure environment
  • Strong organizational skills and very detail-oriented

Preferred:

  • Construction industry experience highly preferred
  • In-house payroll processing preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
