What You’ll Do:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Lead department management and team leads to meet department goals.
- Strategically focus to direct planning, execution, and achievements of operational goals.
- Participate with Senior Leadership in developing department and agency strategies.
- Participate in the implementation of operational and service strategies, policies, workflow process and service levels. Promote accountability by providing focus and direction ensuring understanding and alignment with goals.
- Participate in prospect presentations as needed.
- Coordinate efforts with IMA Benefits Leadership and participate in Company-wide Benefits meetings and initiatives as needed.
- Work with local Market President to develop annual department budget and manage expenses to that budget over the year.
- Participate in the coordination and presentation of seminars and training.
- Meet with representatives of insurance companies, partners, and other vendors to develop and maintain strong agency relationships.
- Search out and explore new companies, marketing opportunities, products, etc., that will support the growth of the department.
- Manage the effective implementation of new technologies and the appropriate utilization of existing systems.
- Facilitate meetings with team leaders and other staff to monitor goals, solicit feedback and communicate agency news.
- Create an environment conducive to change management.
- New product and training/development for department.
- Develop and manage cross sell initiatives.
- Review agency contracts pertaining to KC market.
- Manage the effective implementation of new technologies and the appropriate utilization of existing systems in partnership with IMA and National Team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage activities of Employee Benefits Team. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisal; performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems as it relates to sales related activities.

Job Specifications
- College degree preferred. 8 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hold and maintain high level designation appropriate for this position.
- Demonstrated ability as a leader to develop others to perform and contribute to the organization.
- Willingness to continue a program for professional development.
- Strong written and verbal communications
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- This job operates in a fast paced, multi-tasking, professional environment, requiring ongoing learning and complex problem solving.
- Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods as well as the use of office equipment such as copy machine, printer, filing cabinets, and telephones.
- Occasionally must be able to move and lift office equipment and materials up to 10 pounds.
- Close vision requirements due to frequent computer use.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (i.e. telephones, computers, printers, etc.).
- Local, out-of-the area, and overnight travel may be expected
