Job Description
Position Summary: Provides day-to-day staff, logistical, and administrative assistance to the nursing clinic; communicates and interacts with patients; provides clerical support to staff, and assists with clinical and/or laboratory procedures as required
Clinic Administration:
- Files client records as part of the medical record.
- Faxes client prescriptions to pharmacy as needed and coordinates delivery and pickup as needed.
- Receives, logs and stock nursing supplies and maintains the organization of the storage room closet.
- Maintains vaccine records and updates when necessary.
- Maintains vaccine binder.
- Assists with vaccine shipments and records information and stores vaccines appropriately.
Client Services:
- Confirms pre-requested visits, for Parkland Medvan services, for Ann Moody and Sallys House Shelters.
- Opens and closes agency gates at shelters for Medvan access.
- Picks up prescriptions for clients when clients or case mangers are not available to do so.
- Cleans and disinfects room between patients.
- Stocks exam rooms.
- Monitors stock levels of non-medications and replenishes.
- Makes copies of forms for patients such as daycare release, immunization, school excuse
- Assists in scanning documents for the clinic staff.
- Assists with paperwork completion for patients
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
- Records maintenance skills.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to interact and communicate with a diverse population, often in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of clinical facilities and equipment.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of standard clinic policies and procedures
- Knowledge of current CDC guidelines for immunization standards.
- Knowledge of patient EMR (electronic medical record) systems, specifically Athena.
- Ability to communicate with compassion and empathy for victims of domestic violence and be able to maintain client confidentiality.
- Ability to work a varied, weekly schedule.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Some duties are performed standing and may be relieved by periodic sitting. Computer or patient file review, etc. duties are performed while seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects, less than 25 lbs., frequently.
Working Location: All work must be performed on site at clinics.
Working Conditions: Most duties are performed in a well-lit, office like setting, with little external noises. May sometimes be exposed to contaminants, infectious diseases, exposed to blood and other bodily fluids. Must wear safety attire such as gloves, mask and face shield at all times.
