Job Description

Summary: Apply analytical techniques to understand, evaluate and continually monitor accounting policies and procedures to ensure that they are effective and consistently applied for all front end processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Daily Cash Management to include but not limited to generating Wires/ACH’s, issuing/cancelling, and placing stop payments on checks, creating monthly forecast, and calculating daily cash position

Manage relationship with Bank(s) and Armor Car Companies and pay monthly invoices

Reconciles POS deposits and may include reconciling income and paidout accounts

Prepares and files sales & use tax and prepared food tax forms in accordance with state guidelines

Maintains correct tax rates for Stores, Seamless, Starbucks, FC’s

Assist in performing due diligence for Escheat and reporting unclaimed property

Manage FTD process for coding invoices, checks, and reconciling accounts

Prepares vouchers, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy

Analyzes major accounts and prepares monthly reconciliation of subsidiary accounts to general ledger

Audits new store processes to ensure internal controls are in place

Assist IT and other areas with projects that affect the Banking/Sales Audit area

Monitors store’s cash on hand to determine acceptable balances and potential risk of loss

Authorizes payments to vendors upon review of invoices

Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections

Evaluates terms of vendor contracts for accounting compliance as applicable to Sales Audit/Front End accounting processes

Devises forms and prepares manuals required to guide activities of accounting personnel who post data and maintain databases

Participates in preparing and auditing materials requiring analyses of supporting documents and insures that all entries are entered into the system properly

Assists with preparation of reports for management concerning scope of audits and financial conditions found

Assist Loss Prevention with potential fraud research

Communicates, coordinates and implements accounting policies, practices, and procedures with staff, accounting department and Front End operations

Participates in Front End meetings to address issues or answer questions relating to the Banking and Sales Audit Department

Provides great customer service while responding to store/customer phone calls regarding store accounting issues related to accounts, procedures, and services

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting or Business. Masters degree preferred but not required. Two to three years accounting experience, preferably in retail accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word; Excel; Access database software; GEAC (Infor) Accounting software; ACI Retail Commerce Systems

Certificates and Licenses:
Certified Store Accountant (must possess or attain within 6 months); Professional certification preferred (CPA,CMA or CFA) but not required
